Zach Gets His Braces

March 20, 2008

The day has finally arrived. Zach has been waiting for this day for over a year. Why he was so excited, I don't know, but he has always wanted to get his braces since we started seeing Dr Graf three years ago.

Here is Zach before he is called back. He always likes to go early, because they have an X-box to play while you wait.

This blue stuff is a super duper cleaner for the teeth. At first, I thought it was going to be the glue that kept the braces on. Isn't pretty.

Here we go. This is Dr Arnold, he is the other Ortho in the office. I have to say this was really neat to watch. After the braces were on, the wires when on and then Zach got to pick the colors for the (I dont know what they all them) but they are the little plastic things that go around each brace. (When I was young and had braces they just wrapped wire around each brace.) Anyway that had been the big discussion that whole week. Mom wanted orange and he wanted blue. Well he got both. They alternated each tooth with each color. So it goes blue, orange, blue, orange, etc. So I guess both of us got our way. He is excited too, because they are his school colors.

This was his assistant that helped with everything. Actually, she has been the one that has helped at each of his appointments the last couple of times. It is not scheduled that way, it has just happened. Zach really likes her and was glad that she was the one for his big day. Since it is the end of the week, her name does not come to mind, but when I remember I will let you know.

All done!!!! Can you see the blue and orange. It is a little hard to see. But I have to say they look very cool. After we got done with his braces, Zach had to go and get some shots for 7th grade. I just figured to get all the pain done all together. After the day was done, I kind of felt bad because his mouth really was hurting and both is arms he could hardly move. The next day was even worse. One of his arms swelled up and had a big welt on it. He started to run a fever and was very miserable. But now we are glad it is all done and we can even see a small change with his teeth.
