Old Age meets New Age

OK during Thanksgiving Zach took his Wii to Denver. We thought we would try and get Grandma and Grandpa to bowl on the Wii. We really didnt think they would go for it, but they did and I had to laugh all day. You have to realize that my mom is 66 and my step dad Berney is 79. I think they both went pro by the end of the day. I know that these are a little dark. But they are funny.

Berney

You will have to turn your head on this one, but this is the funniest.
Mom the Bowler

Well for now the Tolmans are somewhat caught up. I hope to hear from you all. I am sorry that I have not posted comments on alot of you. I am trying to catch up. We will play a tag. If you leave a comment I will comment back to you.

Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving we all headed to Denver. I went out a couple of days early to help out Liz and then Jason and Zach flew out on Tuesday night. Here are a couple of pics from the Thankful Day. We had alot of food and fun. We were sad to hear that we lost our great friend Irene Brewer to Breast Cancer. She passed away Thanksgiving morning. I am Thankful that I knew her and she was part of my life.

The Gang. Berney, Mom, Max, Chris, Jason, Glenda and Zach. Liz was taking the pitcure.
Liz and Chris. Our Host and Hostess
The Boys
Liz and Chris got a new kitchen This a cupboard that did not have much in it and Max found it. As you can see he loves it in there. I guess I should have bought them child locks for Christmas.
The last day we were in town, we went out to see my Grandma at the nursing home. I have to say she looks great. This is a great place for her. She has great friends, CNA's and nursed taking good care of her.

Can you guess who has the BIGGER Feet!!!

A couple of weeks ago, Jason and I were out shopping for Sunday shoes for Zach. Since Zach HATES to shop we just guessed what size he wore for shoes. The last we knew he was the same size as Jason. Not anymore. We brought home a pair of Size 7 and had to take them back because now Zach is a size 7 1/2. Can you believe it?

Yes the Tolman's are Still Alive

I am sure alot of you have been wondering where we are. Well we are here and busy as ever. We have had some great things going on with our lives like we got our car FINALLY fixed after 3 weeks. Jason's brother blessed their new baby, Zach and I went and say Body Works in SLC and loved every minute of it. Liz, Chris and Max came for a visit and was here for Halloween. (Zach was Indiana Jones) The youth in our ward had a great Roadshow, we canned applesauce and tomatoes and Zach had the biggest warts ever burned off his feet. Lastly, I have to say a big Congrats to Jason. On October 30th he hit his 2000 mile on his bike. That was his goal for the year and he did it. This is amazing since he had a major neck surgery last December. I am sooooo proud of him. Here are a couple of pictures of these eventful events.

What a weekend.

I have to say that this weekend did not start out the greatest. But it did get better

Friday night we were going to a Red Box at Maverick to get the new Iron Man movie. We pulled into the parking lot and was slowly looking for a place to park. We stopped for a minute because we saw a van moving backwards to where we were heading to park. While we are waiting to see what that van was going to do, we had another car back right into our driverside of the door. The driver did not back up slow like she should have, she gunned it pretty good. So the drivers down is pretty bad. The whole door was bent so bad that we could not even shut the door all the way. There is at least a good half inch gap between the door and the car. So no driving it with all the rain going on. Then the mirror is completely bend in and there are several other minor damages. We called the police so we had a record. The other driver did not have her insurance with her so he let her go and get it. So fianally 45 minutes later we were on our way home with the movie.

Here is where you can see the gap in the door. Then here is the mirror.

Jason called both insurances today. Our agent is out of the office this week and the other insurance will have someone contact us in 24 hours. What a pain.

Then the rest of the weekend was good.

Saturday we had tickets to the second session of conference. We loved it. Even in the rain. WE had great seats in balcony and we could see everything really well.
It is amazing what you get to see that you dont see on TV. When the Prophet came in to the Conference Center it when comepletly quite and everyone stood. I know that is normal, but to watch him and see how he stops to shake everyones had that he walks by. Even the secerity guards. Then after the session, we were sitting there watching all the Aposles leave. As you all know there was great childresn choir in the afternoon session. As the Prophet was leaving, all the children were sitting on the edge of their seat trying to see the Prophet. All of a sudden he stops and gives a BIG wave to alll the children. You never saw a so many smiles shine then you did at that moment. These two experences I witnessed confirmed to me that the Gospel is true and that Pres. Monson is a true Prophet.

Then a really neat thing happened while we were sitting waiting for conference to start. There was a group of college students that came and sat down behind us. One of the guys were talking and said that he was a "Tolman" I turned around and told him that we were Tolmans. Well of course that started a big conversation. He is from the Issac Judson line and his GreatGrand Fathers name was Glade, and his Grandfather and Fathers name is John. So we are thinking he is a brother to Royal Clifford. We need to do some reacher and as Don & Joann where they fit in on the family line. This guy said that he just received a book on Issac Judson and asked if we would like one. We said yes and we gave him our information. Hopefully he will contact us and pass that along.

It is amazing how things like this happen. I have always thought that there were not very many Tolmans around, but latley I am asked if I am related on one Tolman or another.

Sunday we just stayed home and watched Conference. I tryed making homemade bread and have to say that I did not to that bad. Thanks for the recipe Debi.

What would Conference be without rain.
I have to say that everything was very pretty with all the rain that fell.
Jason and Zach.
We had to take these pitcures super quick because there was a volunteer stand right by us and you were not suppose to take pitcures.
But I just had to take some rememberance pitcures. No, I did not take any pitcures after everyone was seated on the stand. I have to say, I could not believe how many people were taking pitcures after they announced not to. (I took mine before the announcement.)

Zach and Glenda

You can tell in these pitcures that Zach is very tired. The night before he had his cousin, Dallin over and they stayed up late watching the Iron Man movie and the new Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network. These two are very BIG Star Wars fans. Thanks for hanging out with us Dallin.

Zach gets his Star

As you can see I have fixed my blog. Thanks to Debi for all the help. I kind of like it, but hopefully when I get ready to change it again, I will not mess it up again. It took to long to fix it that is was almost the end of THE TOLMAN TRIO

September 28, 2008

Zach is moving right along in Scouts. He earned his Star last week at our Ward Court of Honor. This past summer he has started alot of merit badges, but has not quite finished them all. Most of his summer was preparing for those two backpacking trips that the Scouts took. As parents, we are very proud of him and he well on his way to his Eagle. He has his project figured out already, he just has to get his Life and then we can start working on it. He wants to wait and do his project after his Grandparents get home from their mission.

I fianlly got all of his Merit Badges on his Sash. We realized that the sash is to BIG and hangs to his knees. So I will try and figure out how to twick it.

A Proud Mom. I love this part of the program. I even remembered to wear my Mothers Necklace for his Star pin. I love how this necklace is looking.
I think the Star pin is my favorite so far.Br. Farley presenting the award to Zach

Blog Trauma

Sunday September 28, 2008

Ok this weekend has not been my weekend for the blog. As you can see I have really messed up my blog. My favorite background blog site has been down. It was up for about 5 minutes today, so I tried to download on that Jason really liked and it worked but then all of my side bars moved to the bottom. I even had Debi working on it last night to try a different blog background site. She had a really cute one, but I could not see it when I logged back in, but she could on her computer. I know weird. (thanks for the help Deb) So I have decided to leave it again for the eveing and TRY and work on it tomorrow. If anyone has any tips or other great background blog sites I would love to hear your comments. I have some new post to put on, but I cant until Ihave a cute background. I know weird again.

Zach and his guitar. For those of you that might not know, Zach has been taking guitar is this last summer, and he LOVES IT. He is more dedicated to it then his piano, but that is ok, because he is learning really fast and that is because of his piano.

I think this is my favorite!!

Debi & Scott's Family

Sunday, September 21, 2008
Each year we go up to the mountains and take family pictures. Usually this is done on Conference weekend, but Jason has been riding his bike up the canyon every week and said that this is the week to take them. So after church we headed up to South Fork Canyon. Debi & Scotts family always joins us. This year we had a hot dog roast and smores. It was a very nice evening. But at the end it got a little cold.

As most of you know, I LOVE this time of year. Each time we are up in the canyon I always wish we had a cabin or some land. I would spend everyone minute we could up their. I love the senery, the smell and just being away from everything.

Thanks Debi for getting some great shots of our family. We love you lots.

Zach the Man

Have you met this handsome boy? If not he is one of the most important people in my life. Today school pitcures came home and when I saw this pitcure, it took my breath away. He is a not a boy anymore he is what his Aunt Liz would say "A Little Man"

Zach has changed so much these last couple of months. Since he has received the Priesthood, he has taken on alot of responsibility and understands what that is. He loves school, (which has never happened) He is more aware that things are going on in peoples lifes. I love it when it is his turn to pray at family prayer, becasue he remembers everything everything good or bad and prays for the bad and gives thanks for the good.

He loves to announce that he has Grandparents serving a mission. He is VERY proud of that. Zach is shy, but when he has something to say, he makes sure he is hears.

Zach we love you lots and you make us very proud.

A Rainy Day!! Fall is on its way!!!

September 1, 2008

Monday was Labor Day so we were home. We had Debi and Scotts kids stay overnight, so they could go away for a night for their upcoming Anniversary. The night before at the family party it was really raining and all the kids wanted to go outside, but since the lighting was really bad and we did not want the kids wet in the car on the way home, all the parents said "NO" the next morning it started to really rain again. So Abby, Zach and Dallin headed out. I found whatever rain gear I could find. For shoes they just wend barefoot. It was cold so I hope they do not get sick. I tried to take pitcures of them outside, but it was really dark and my camera just would not get a good pic. So we took these pics of them after they came in. It was a nice down pour and it made really feel and smell like fall. And a little winter. There was snow at the top of Timp.

Here are the boys. They were the first to come in from the cold. They are very wet.
Here is Abby. I think she wins for being the wettest. She even went out for a second "Shower"
Emma got the throw ups in the morning so she could not go outside. She was asleep the whole time. Emma I am glad you are feeling better and the next rain storm we will go out and play in the rain.

Happy Birthday Annie, Emma, Cami, Crystal and Baby Maya

August 31, 2008

Each month the Tolmans get together to celebrate birthday each month. Well at least almost each month. I think there is only two months out of the year that we do not have a birthday. This time it was at Mike(Jason's oldest brother) and Katherines house. There was suppose to be a camp out in the back yard but we were rained out. I mean really rained out. This is always a great time to get together because we ususally dont see everyone all the time since we are all so spread out and very busy with our lives. But it is always nice to know that they are always around for everyone.

Here is little Cami with her new princess ball!!
Aunt Bethany with new baby Maya
Glenda and Nikelle hang out. Nikelle and I have a very funny kindard spirit relationship. What I love about her is she can always make me laugh. Love ya Nikelle
Nikelle,Abby and Baby Maya
Baby Maya Born August 27, 2008 We were all so glad to see her. We cant believe that Aunt Kim was up to a big family party. What a trooper.
Aunt Glenda, Baby Maya, Abby and Emma
The proud parents. Kim and Tom Tolman. Like I said. Kim is a trooper. She looks great for having a baby 4 days before this pitcure.
Crystal, Annie (with her new Scripture bag) and Mike
Next month there is only one birthday but we will still get togethe as a family. Something we always look forward to.

We can not tell a lie!!! We cut down Grandpa's Tree

While Jason's parents are on their mission, Zach and Jason are in charge of the yard. The front tree has not been doing well for the last couple of years and it was decided that it needed to come down. So one night they went down and went to work. The first night they cut all the branches off and then soaked the trunk over night and then hooked up a chain to Jasons truck and out came the trunk.

Zach loved doing this because he thinks it is super neat to see how the trunk comes out. They did a great job and did not break any sprinklers. So now we are in search of a tree. Jasons dad has given us some suggestions. Now we jus have to find the right one. We will keep you updated.

Here is the tree before it came down.
Zach surrounded by all the branches that were cut off.
The only thing left. The trunk.
Now there is just a nice hole. The camera was dead so they did not get any pitcures of the final project.

Summer Has Ended

I know, I know I have not posted for over a month. July and August have gotten away. So I thought I would just give a quick review of what we have been doing.

Had family Lagoon Day. Zach took a friend this year and we did not see him most of the day. It is sad when they grow up, but he had a blast hangin out with his friend Ben and his older cousins.

Two Backpacking Trips
Zach and Jason ventured out with the scouts a couple of times on backpacking trips up in the Uintas. They had TONS of fun. Even thought Zach did not want to go the second trip, he was glad that he went.

Pioneer Activity.
The ward had a GREAT Pioneer activity where we all made dutch oven dishes. I made Red Potatoes with seasoning on them. They were Yummy!!!

Young Womens
Yes, I am back in Young Womens. I have been called to be the Personal Progress Coordinator. The ward has not had one for a couple of years, but the President (Debi Lee) thought it was important that there was one. So I was called. The girls are AMAZING!! Alot of them have been working very hard and are almost done.
